johnston was on a nine day tryp on costa rica whith her spanish class when he was killed by a guard .it was on a wednesday when johnston and her friend decided to visit som friend on the other site of the hotel when they came back around 4 a.m they went throught a wooden area of the hotel when the hotel guard saw they he means that they were robers and took aut his weapon and shoot johnston in his chest ,in costa rica this is a simple homicide in the U.S.A it is a manslaughter the guard has no permission to carry this gun .johnson was 16 years old and came from kansas .
